PunchTag

For technicians in the field

Fire extinguisher inspection app

PunchTag is a fire extinguisher inspection app built for the truck and the basement: it works with no signal, scans the label on each unit, and records a passing extinguisher in one tap.

Early access: the app is being tested with founding companies. Everything on this page is the launch version.

At launch

  • iPhone and iPad
  • Android phones and tablets
  • Works offline
  • QR and barcode labels
  • Big buttons for gloves

How a visit works in the app

  1. Open the site

This week's sites are already on the phone. Units show in route order, floor by floor.

  2. Pass, next

A passing unit is one tap. The app records the annual and opens the next extinguisher.

  3. Fix or swap

Fail an item, recharge, swap in a loaner or red-tag a unit from its menu. Photos are optional.

  4. Finish

Customer signs or you note "no rep available". The report goes out as soon as the phone has signal.

Built to work offline

Mechanical rooms, stairwells and parking garages rarely have signal. PunchTag saves every inspection, photo and unit change on the phone first, then syncs in the background. A banner shows anything still waiting to sync, and the app won't let a tech log out with unsynced work.

QR and barcode scanning

Each extinguisher gets a weatherproof QR label next to its service tag. Scan it with the camera inside the app and the unit's history opens: type, size, manufacture date, last annual, 6-year and hydro. No label? Search by the current tag number, or just walk the building in order.

Android, iPhone and tablets

PunchTag installs from the browser to the home screen on iPhone, iPad and Android, so there's no app store account to manage and every tech gets updates the same day. It's the same app the office uses on a laptop.

Faster than a punch tag

The test before launch: a tech walking 30 passing units must average under 20 seconds each. Due dates, the report and the next visit are worked out for you. See the NFPA 10 intervals the app tracks, or compare fire inspection software options.

Questions

Is there a fire extinguisher inspection app that works offline?

Yes. PunchTag is built to work with no signal: inspections, photos and unit changes save on the phone and sync when you're back in coverage. Offline use is a launch requirement, tested in basements before release.

Does it work on Android and iPhone?

At launch, PunchTag runs on iPhone, iPad, Android phones and Android tablets. It installs from the browser to the home screen, so there's no app store download.

Can it scan barcodes or QR codes on extinguishers?

Yes. Each extinguisher gets a weatherproof QR label, scanned with the phone's camera from inside the app. Techs can also find a unit by its current tag number or walk the building in route order without scanning.

Is there a free fire extinguisher inspection app?

PunchTag is free during early access. For building staff doing their own monthly checks, our free checklist fills in on a phone and downloads a completed PDF.

Save your founding spot

We're onboarding a small group of extinguisher companies first. PunchTag is free while we're in early access. When billing starts, founding customers keep the Crew plan for $49 a month for as long as they stay subscribed.
